Home Baptisms

About baptisms

We hold baptisms on the third Sunday of each month at 12 noon. The service includes a hymn, a bible reading and talk and the baptism itself. We may have two or three baptisms together depending on demand and can accommodate large groups of visitors. The service is relaxed and informal. Anyone who is resident in the parish can have their baby or child baptised at St Peter’s and we also baptise adults.

Next steps

If you want to arrange a baptism, please click on Contact Us to get in touch with the vicar. She will arrange to meet you for an initial chat and to take your details. Nearer the time of the baptism someone from St Peter’s will arrange to visit you and show you a short DVD which explains what baptism is about. This gives you an opportunity to ask questions. We actively welcome anyone who is considering baptism for their child or themselves but we also ask that you think carefully about the promises you make in the service and the commitment you and your godparents will make.

You can find out more about what Baptism is on the Church of England website.
