Goodbye Rachel and Andy
Yesterday, Sunday 28th June, the members of St. Peter’s Church, Norton said farewell to our vicar, the Reverend Rachel Hirst.
There were great plans for a party before Covid19, but obviously that was not to be. Nevertheless, we marked the occasion! The leadership team were watched by a few members of the congregation (socially distanced on the pavement!) as they presented Rachel and her husband, Andy, with flowers, balloons, champagne, a photo album with pictures of the congregation in, cards and a cheque for £1400!
They want a particular garden seat so they were also given a plague to go on it.
Rachel has been in ministry at St. Peter’s for 9 years and has been totally committed to moving us forward in our faith. Many things have developed under her leadership for which we are most grateful. Andy, too, has been part of that ministry, whether it was cutting the grass, moving chairs or reading the lesson. They are a team! We shall miss them very much but wish them joy as they start the next chapter in their lives together.
